Late morning on a downtown block, the kind with a bookshop that puts its overflow out on the sidewalk. He is walking off a coffee, not going anywhere in particular. The sweater is a brushed Shetland in a green loud enough to be the whole outfit, worn over a white tee that shows an inch at the hem, and the jeans are wide, light, worn soft at the knee. A green canvas tote hangs off two fingers. The sneakers have seen a summer.

Everything works because only one thing is asking for attention. Green up top, faded blue below, white doing the join at the collar and the feet. The tote answers the sweater instead of arguing with it. The volume is the other half: a shaggy crewneck over a wide leg needs the tee to break it up, or it reads as one shapeless column. Tuck nothing. Push the sleeves back when it warms up. It's a Saturday outfit that survives being seen on a Tuesday.
